AT&T confirmed on Tuesday that it is promoting mobile chief Ralph de la Vega to a new post overseeing enterprise and mobile, with Glenn Lurie to run the mobile unit.

Lurie, now CEO of AT&T Mobility, has been in charge of the company’s emerging products, including tablets, home security and automotive efforts. He also built the company’s early relationships with Apple and Amazon.

In the new role, as CEO of AT&T’s mobile & business solutions organization, de la Vega will oversee sales to businesses of both wireline and wireless services.

“We’ve been integrating various functions of our wireline and wireless operations for several years now, including our network, technology and customer care operations,” AT&T said in a statement provided to Re/code. “Now, we’re taking the next natural step by integrating our marketing and distribution for Business Solutions into our Mobility group.”

With the move, AT&T’s business solutions head Andy Geisse is retiring after 35 years at the company.

The executive changes were first reported by industry trade site Fierce Wireless.
