Rakesh “Rocky” Agrawal, the PayPal strategy exec who unleashed on a couple of coworkers in a late-night Twitter rant earlier this weekend, said in a tweet on Sunday morning that he had resigned from the payments giant before his tirade. On Saturday, PayPal posted a tweet announcing his departure, which left room for interpretation on whether Agrawal had been fired or had resigned.

Agrawal confirmed the timeline of events in an email to Re/code on Sunday morning.

“I can confirm that I resigned early [Friday] evening. I then went out with friends who I haven’t seen in two years,” he wrote. “I have huge respect for David Marcus, Stan Chudnovsky and Hill Ferguson. I also think that Anuj Nayar is one of the best PR people I’ve worked with. I wish the team the best of luck in reinventing commerce.”

He declined to elaborate further.

Asked if he wanted to apologize to the targets of his rant, PayPal communications boss Christina Smedley and PayPal retail chief Don Kingsborough, Agrawal declined. (Agrawal had mentioned a “Don Christmas” in his earlier series of tweets, but that mention was believed to be directed at Kingsborough.)

“My statement is complete,” he wrote.

Agrawal also hinted on Twitter on Sunday morning that he may pursue creating his own startup: “I will be prioritizing meetings with accredited investors who want to build a different kind of company,” he tweeted.

PayPal spokesman Anuj Nayar did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Sunday morning.

A guy with the Twitter handle "rakeshlobster" was hired to do strategy and marketing?  Is this a joke?

It's sad how egotistical and narcissistic some of these people are. Life is more interesting once you get past all that.
