News Brief

NASA announced that the planned launch of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on Monday has been canceled due to a helium leak in the first stage of the booster. If the issue can be resolved, the next possible launch time is Friday at 3:25 pm ET, the agency said. As Re/code reported earlier today, the mission represents the first time SpaceX has added landing legs to its rocket, enabling an early experiment as the company looks to eventually create reusable rockets. SpaceX didn’t immediately respond to an inquiry.
