News Brief

From the “100 percent not surprising” box: AT&T says that Netflix should indeed pay Comcast to ensure that its video streams reach the cable company’s customers. Of course AT&T says that! It wants a similar deal. But the company’s statement, attributed to AT&T public policy head Jim Cicconi, is worth a read. Sample line: “As we all know, there is no free lunch, and there’s also no cost-free delivery of streaming movies.”

Yeah, that would be the customer paying their monthly service fee. Which by international comparison is expensive for the service level rendered.
