The digital games market contracted slightly last month, from an estimated $1.03 billion in revenue in January down to $959 million in February, according to digital gaming research firm SuperData. Year over year, revenue for downloadable content on PCs and consoles rose 15 percent to $291 million, and sales made within free-to-play social, mobile and MMO games rose 10 percent to $585 million. However, since last February, paid MMO subscriptions have fallen nearly 20 percent to $82 million for the month. SuperData predicted that overall digital revenue will be back up next month thanks to downloadable content in EA’s new Xbox and Windows game Titanfall.
