No, It’s Not American Geek Idol — But Ryan Seacrest Will Be Onstage at the Code Conference

Last week, we announced a spate of big names for our Code Conference in May.
They include General Motors CEO Mary Barra and Walmart CEO Doug McMillon, as well as previously named speakers such as Google’s Sergey Brin and Uber CEO Travis Kalanick.
Here’s another — although he is not the last major speaker to be unveiled: Well-known entertainment personality and producer Ryan Seacrest.
The reasons for adding him are myriad. First, Seacrest is a major Hollywood player in pretty much every medium: Broadcast, cable television and radio. Although he is best known as the host of the hit talent showcase “American Idol” and ABC’s annual New Year’s Eve program, Seacrest also is a prolific entertainment producer via Ryan Seacrest Productions, which he formed in 2006. His shows include reality hits such as “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and “Shahs of Sunset,” as well as the upcoming ABC sitcom “Mixology.”
Second, he’s a not-so-secret geek. Last year, for example, he invested in a startup, which he also co-founded, that makes a keyboard accessory for the Apple iPhone called Typo. It made its debut at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas at the beginning of this year and the effort has also attracted the legal ire of BlackBerry.
Seacrest has been in talks with Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer about creating programming for the Silicon Valley Internet giant.
And, most recently, he made a deal with Tastemade, the high-profile online food video platform, for which he will develop food and lifestyle television programming.
He also is, really, the hardest working man in show business, as you can see from this online video he did to tout “Mixology”:
