ZenPayroll, a San Francisco-based startup that makes software that small businesses can use to automate payroll tasks, has raised a $20 million investment led by General Catalyst and with participation from Kleiner Perkins. The company’s software also integrates with other back-office applications from third parties. “That’s the kind of sophistication that used to be available only for larger companies,” said General Catalyst’s Hemant Taneja, who is joining the board.
