Longtime Developer Scott Guthrie to Lead Microsoft’s Server Group, for Now
With Satya Nadella becoming CEO, a vacancy was left atop the Server and Enterprise Group, which he had been running.
Microsoft confirmed late Tuesday that corporate VP Scott Guthrie, who has been leading Windows Azure efforts, will serve as acting head of the unit, reporting to Nadella.
It remains to be seen if this change becomes permanent, if Microsoft names a different leader or, as often happens with new leaders, if things get further restructured.
Known for his bright red polo shirts, Guthrie has had a number of roles at Microsoft, frequently appearing as the developer face for the Microsoft products he worked on, including Azure, Silverlight and .Net. Guthrie is also a frequent blogger for Microsoft on technical topics.
